So, it’s the last day of summer vacation. The kids are bouncing off the walls, and I’m looking for something fun to do that doesn’t involve more screen time. Enter Good Mood Ranch in Naples, Florida—because if there’s one thing we could all use, it’s a good mood. I packed up the car with snacks, sunscreen, and a bunch of kids who were already complaining about the heat before we even left the driveway. Spoiler alert: They weren’t wrong.

Location, Location, Location
Good Mood Ranch is nestled in the heart of Naples, where it’s hot. I mean, “walk two steps and you’re sweating like you’ve just run a marathon” hot. But if you can brave the heat, this place is a hidden gem. Located at 26565 Morton Ave, it’s close enough to civilization for a quick escape but far enough to feel like you’re stepping into a different, more rustic world.

What to Do at the Ranch
First off, let me tell you—Good Mood Ranch lives up to its name. The people there are so friendly! And let’s talk about Sonic, the alpaca. Yes, Sonic. As in the hedgehog, but way cuter and with fluff that makes you want to start knitting on the spot. The kids loved him, and honestly, so did I. There were lots of guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, cows, donkeys, horses, pigs, and some rather large roosters. You have the option to buy a “snack pack” to feed the animals when you enter and we bought one for the boys and one for the girls. There was plenty to go around.

The kinds loved the zip lines, many races were had during our visit. There was also a bouncy house, playground, and lots of bikes, trikes, and peddle vehicles for the kids. Also located around the covered area were rides for little kids. Think, the horse you could ride for a quarter at the grocery store (does that make me sound old?), or a helicopter or motorcycle that used to be at the mall. There was corn hole, or as we call it in Minnesota “baaaaggggss”, and a foam axe throwing game. Plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.

The highlight for the kiddos, though, had to be the big bunny. One of the employees brought out this giant, fluffy rabbit for all the kids to hold. Cue a chorus of “Can we get one? Pleeease?” It was one of those moments where you think, “Yeah, this is what summer is all about,” right before realizing you’re melting under the sun.
A Nighttime Delight?
While we were there during the day, I couldn’t help but notice the string lights hanging everywhere. It made me think that this place must be a blast after the sun goes down. I can only imagine how charming it would be to stroll around the ranch with those twinkling lights overhead, maybe with a cool evening breeze to replace that mid-day sizzle. If you’re not allergic to fun, this might be the perfect spot for an evening adventure.
Prices and Practicalities
The prices at Good Mood Ranch are pretty reasonable, which is always a plus when you’ve got a car full of kids. General admission for adults is around $15, and it’s $10 for kids. For what you get—up-close animal encounters, a beautiful setting, and a friendly vibe—it’s money well spent.

A Citrus Farm That Wasn’t Meant to Be
Just down the road from the ranch, there’s a citrus farm that I was itching to visit. Unfortunately, it’s not open this time of year. I did some digging and found out it’s called Naples Citrus Grove, and it’s usually open from late November through April. When it’s open, they sell all kinds of fresh citrus—think oranges, grapefruits, and lemons, along with homemade jams and honey. I guess that just means I’ll have to make a return trip when the weather’s cooler and the fruit is ripe for the picking.
Final Thoughts

Good Mood Ranch was the perfect way to close out our summer—despite the heat. The kids had a blast, I got to meet an alpaca named Sonic, and we all left with smiles on our faces (and a few extra freckles from the sun). I’d recommend going in the early morning or maybe waiting until fall when the weather cools down a bit. And if you get a chance to visit at night, do it. I bet those string lights are pure magic after dark.
For more information, check out their website and follow them on Instagram to see what’s happening at the ranch. And hey, if you end up going, give Sonic a pet for me.
P.S. Keep an eye on Naples Citrus Grove come late November—because fresh Florida citrus is definitely worth a second trip!
