Let the Fun Begin!

Hey everyone! So, imagine you’ve got a weekend to whisk the family away and you’re looking for where to stay that has a mix of chill-out time and adventure. We recently hit up the Marriott World Center in Orlando, and guys, it was a blast! Let me break down the why, the what, and the how much, so you can see if it’s the getaway spot for you too.

All Aboard the Fun Train

First up, this place is not just a hotel—it’s like a mini city designed to keep everyone from your toddler to your teen (and yes, you too!) entertained. They’ve got everything from a massive pool complex complete with big screen TV, toddler splash pad, water slides, lazy river, and tube slides. I will mention, my 6 year old was very disappointed to learn the hight to ride the slides is 48 inch. He was just a hair too short, but we had been able to use all the slides at Gaylord Palms and Aquatica so this was a surprise to us.

Another fun thing to do is the nightly laser show. We grabbed a basket of fries and a couple cokes at the outdoor grill and settled in for the show. Four times a year they also have an epic firework show. We got to see on Memorial Day weekend, but you still have a chance to book a room for the 4th of July specular!

Foodie Adventures On-Site

One word: Yum. Dining at the Marriott World Center is an adventure in itself. With options ranging from Japanese sushi at Mikado to Italian classics at Siro Urban Italian Kitchen, there’s something to satisfy everyone. Not to mention, the Central Pantry is perfect for grabbing a quick bite when the kids are about 30 seconds from a meltdown.

And if you’re thinking about costs, it’s pretty reasonable. Meals at the specialty restaurants will set you back about $20-$30 per person, but considering you’re eating within the resort, it’s not too shabby.

One insider trick, book your restaurant reservations early. We only booked our tip on Tuesday night and when I thought to make reservations for dinner for Saturday they were booked up. We were able to put ourselves on a wait list and were called by our restaurants of choice but they had openings only after our kids bedtime.

What’s Around?

Now, let’s talk location. The Marriott is practically in Disney’s backyard—just a few minutes’ drive from all the major parks. Whether you’re hitting up Magic Kingdom or exploring the Wizarding World at Universal, you’re close enough to come back to the hotel for a mid-day pool break or a quick nap. The real-feel temps were 104 the weekend we were there, so we chose to just stay at the hotel instead of visit the parks. However, it would be the perfect place to stay when doing the Disney thing.

Amenities and Pockets-Friendly Tips

Here’s the scoop on making the most out of your stay without breaking the bank:

  • Room Deals: Always check their website for family package deals. Sometimes, they include meal vouchers or even park discounts.
  • Stay and Play: Considering you’ve got a golf course, a full-service spa (hello, relaxation!), and kids’ activities right at the hotel, you can actually save a day’s worth of amusement park tickets by hanging out at the resort instead, which is what we did.

Room rates vary, but you’re looking at about $150-$250 per night depending on the season and room type. Not too bad for an all-in-one resort this close to Mickey’s house!

Wrapping It Up

In a nutshell, if you’re looking for where to stay where you can relax, have fun, and maybe sneak in a cocktail or two while the kids are off sliding down water slides, Marriott World Center in Orlando should definitely be on your radar. Enjoy the trip, and hey, don’t forget to charge your camera. You’ll need it!

And that’s a wrap on our family weekend getaway! Here’s to more adventures and less stress. Safe travels!
