If you’ve been following along, you might remember that we stayed at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee last year and had an amazing time. Well, we couldn’t resist going back for round two! And let me tell you, our return to Gaylord Palms was just as magical, if not more. Here’s what we did differently this time and why I’m already looking forward to our next visit.

Learning from Last Time: Reserving Our Lounge Chairs

Last time, we thought we were being smart by taking our time in the morning, thinking we had plenty of time to grab chairs at the water park. From our room, which had a perfect view of the park, we saw lots of available chairs when the park opened at 9 AM. We leisurely made our way down around 9:45, only to find that every good chair had been claimed—except for a few half chairs by the South Beach pool. And let me tell you, trying to relax on a half chair with nowhere to stretch out is not the vibe we were looking for.

This time, we came prepared. We reserved lounge chairs in advance, right by the water playground and the water slides. It was the best decision ever. We had the perfect spot to keep an eye on the kids while they played, and we could actually relax with enough space to stretch out. Pro tip: If you’re planning a trip during peak season, do yourself a favor and reserve those chairs early.

Changing Up the Room: Atrium View Balcony

While our water park view room was fantastic last time, we decided to switch things up and book an atrium view balcony room this time. Why? Because who wouldn’t want to watch the nightly laser show from the comfort of their own balcony? The view was stunning, and the laser show was just the cherry on top. Plus, the atrium itself is gorgeous, and having that view to wake up to every morning was a treat.

More Activities, Less Stress

This time around, we made sure to dive into more of the activities and events that the resort offers. One highlight was the Aqua Glow Party at the pool. Imagine a DJ spinning tracks while neon lights dance across the water, creating a fun and energetic atmosphere. It’s a party in the pool, and the kids loved it!

We also caught the new drone light show. Yes, you read that right—drones. This high-tech light show lit up the night sky in a mesmerizing display that had everyone in awe. Definitely a must-see if you’re visiting anytime soon. I’d equate it to a firework show, without the loud booms. It was short, but sweet.

Going with the Flow: Casual Dining

Last year, we stressed a bit too much over dinner reservations, but this time, we decided to take it easy. Instead of formal dining, we opted for poolside service. There’s nothing quite like having burgers and fries or tacos and margaritas delivered right to your lounge chair. Pure bliss!

For those moments when we wanted to catch a game, we headed to Wreckers Sports Bar. With massive TVs and a lively atmosphere, it was the perfect spot to enjoy some college football. Even if you’re not a huge sports fan, the vibe here is contagious.

We on a whim decided to get dressed up and head to dinner one night. Moor restaurant was so fun. The kids enjoyed sitting on the deck of a ship overlooking a pond filled with local Florida fish. We enjoyed the seafood selections and wine. Don’t worry, they offer a kids menu with the usual offerings of pasta, chicken, and burgers.

Why Once Wasn’t Enough

I’ll be honest—I’m not usually one to visit the same place twice. But Gaylord Palms? I could make an exception every year. There’s just something about this resort that keeps you coming back for more. Maybe it’s the wide range of activities, the stunning views, or the overall vibe that makes you feel like you’re on a true getaway. Whatever it is, it works.
