Hi Friends! If you’re planning a trip to Cape Coral, Florida, I have 10 things to do for an amazing vacation! Cape Coral has been gaining in popularity for families and snowbirds alike. Whether you’re coming for a week, or for the season, here’s your ultimate guide to the top 10 things to do in Cape Coral.
1. Cape Coral Yacht Club & Beach
Start your adventure at the Cape Coral Yacht Club, the OG of local hangouts since 1962. It took a hit in 2022 from Hurricane Ian (but gosh what didn’t), and has recently been going through renovations. The beach reopened on November 23, 2023. Keep an eye on the City of Cape Coral website – the link is that underlined one below – to say updated on more offerings.

2. Cruise the Canals

Did you know Cape Coral boasts over 400 miles of canals? That’s more than Venice (Venice Italy, not Venice Florida)! Rent a boat, kayak, SUP, or join a guided tour to explore these waterways. Pack a cooler with your favorite snacks and drinks for a DIY canal picnic.

3. Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve

Nature lovers, this one’s for you. Kayak through mangroves, stroll along the boardwalk, and keep an eye out for manatees and birds. Morning visits are best to beat the heat and the crowds.

4. Sun Splash Family Waterpark

Beat the Florida heat at Sun Splash, a waterpark with slides, a lazy river, and pools for all ages. Weekdays are less crowded when our local kids are in school, so you can have more splash and less wait.

5. The Boathouse Tiki Bar & Grill

Time to eatl! This waterfront spot located at the Yacht Club offers delicious food, tropical drinks, and live music. Try their frozen cocktails while enjoying the view. Check out the menu HERE.

6. Birdwatching at Sirenia Vista Park
Listen, this isn’t my area of expertise, but I know it is for a lot of people. Grab your binoculars and head to Sirenia Vista Park to spot Cape Coral’s famous burrowing owls and other local birds. Send me a picture here or tag me on instagram. I’ll live out my birdwatching hobby through you all.
- Address: 3916 Ceitus Pkwy, Cape Coral, FL 33991

7. Cape Coral Farmers Market

I love a good farmers market! I go to the Coconut Point farmers market in Estero frequently. When I’m in Cape Coral for sports or visiting family I visit Downtown Cape Coral for their market. Every Saturday, downtown Cape Coral transforms into a bustling market with fresh produce, baked goods, and local crafts. Arrive early for the best picks.

8. Day Trip to Matlacha

Just a short drive away, Matlacha is a colorful fishing village known for its art galleries and quirky vibe. Don’t miss the “Lovegrove Gallery”, check out Leona’s instagram, so fun and colorful, and grab a bite at Blue Dog Café. Check out the menu HERE.

9. Hit the Beaches!

While Cape Coral itself doesn’t have any beaches, (excluding the man made beach at the Yacht Club.) there are plenty just a car ride away! My favorites are Sanibel and Captiva, Boca Grande, and Bonita Beach. Check out my blog post below for more information on beach options.

10. Go Fishing!

Whether you’re a pro or a newbie, Cape Coral offers great fishing opportunities. Try shore fishing, charter a boat, or cast a line in the canals. Not too far away is Boca Grand which has the best tarpon fishing in the world! We also really enjoy doing charters out of Sanibel Marina with Endless Summer Charters, they are very family friendly. Oh, and please remember to check local regulations for permits.
