Orlando can be hotter than a firecracker on the Fourth of July! For a cooler experience (both temperature-wise and crowd-wise), aim for spring or fall. Not only are the temperatures more comfortable, but you’ll also avoid the peak summer crowds. It’s like having the park to yourself, but with more fish! We visited in September and it was a great experience.

- Hilton Grand Vacations at SeaWorld: Just a stone’s throw away, offering cozy rooms and a shuttle to Discovery Cove.
- Renaissance Orlando at SeaWorld: Upscale and right next door. We were able to walk to SeaWorld on our day at that park, and also watch the fireworks from our room!
- Staybridge Suites: For those who want a home away from home, complete with kitchenettes.
Things to Do
Dolphin Days and Tropical Rays
- Dolphin Swim: The star attraction! Swim and interact with these friendly creatures. You’ll be pulled along by a friendly fella and get pictures to take home.
- The Grand Reef: Snorkel among exotic fish and graceful rays. The water is cold here to accommodate the fish, but the wetsuits will keep you warm. Easily our favorite part of the day, once you get used to swimming with sting rays.
- Explorer’s Aviary: Birds of a feather flock together, and you can too! Feed and mingle with a variety of feathered friends. We went right away when we arrived and it wasn’t busy at all!
- Serenity Bay: A peaceful pool for those who just want to relax. We floated along this lazy river probably a dozen times. You’ll travel under waterfalls and see birds from the aviary flying by.
Tips and Tricks
Be a Smart Splasher
- Book Early: Especially for dolphin swims. They fill up faster than a kiddie pool in July!
- All-Inclusive Means All-Inclusive: Food, drinks, sunscreen, and snorkel gear are included. It’s like a buffet, but with more swimming. The kids loved the unlimited slurpees and bags of chips.
- Bring a Waterproof Camera: For those Instagram-worthy moments. Just don’t drop it; fish aren’t great at finding lost items. We used a GoPro to capture memories and it worked great!
